UAE Says It Intercepts Six Drones Targeting Civilian, Vital Areas

(MENAFN) The United Arab Emirates says Tuesday that its air defense systems successfully detect and engage six hostile drones over the past 48 hours, according to reports.

The UAE Ministry of Defense says on social media platform X that the drones attempt to target civilian and critical infrastructure sites, but are intercepted with what it describes as “a high level of readiness and efficiency,” with no casualties or damage reported.

According to the statement, air defense units neutralize the incoming drones before they can reach their intended targets.

The ministry also provides details on a previous incident involving the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, saying monitoring systems confirm that three drones are involved in the attack, with two intercepted and a third striking an external power generator outside the facility’s main perimeter.

It further states that all drones linked to the incident are launched from Iraqi territory, according to UAE defense authorities.
