Provided by AGPAnti-settlement activist Osama Makhamra told the news agency that settlers deliberately set fire to agricultural land in the Umm Nir area of al-Karmil town, located south of Hebron. Civil defense volunteers from the nearby villages of al-Tuwana and Susya in the Masafer Yatta region were deployed to battle the blazes.
In a parallel development, Israeli authorities have issued 15 stop-work orders against homes, residential structures, and community facilities in Umm Qusa village, situated in the Yatta desert area south of Hebron. Najeh Ataymat, an anti-settlement activist and Umm Qusa village council member, confirmed the orders were served in recent days.
The incidents come against a backdrop of escalating violence across the occupied territory. Since October 2023, Israeli military operations and settler attacks in the West Bank have claimed the lives of 1,162 Palestinians, left approximately 12,245 wounded, and resulted in nearly 23,000 detentions, according to official Palestinian figures.
