VakifBank Defeat Eczacibasi to Claim Seventh European Champions League Crown

(MENAFN) VakifBank secured the CEV Women’s Champions League title on Sunday after defeating fellow Turkish side Eczacibasi Dynavit 3–1 in the final held in Istanbul.

As stated by reports, the match marked an all-Turkish final in Europe’s premier club volleyball competition, where VakifBank demonstrated strong form to claim their seventh Champions League trophy, adding to previous victories in 2011, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2022, and 2023.

VakifBank started the match strongly, taking the first two sets 25–20 and 25–21. According to general accounts, Eczacibasi responded by winning the third set 25–21, briefly reducing the gap and keeping the contest alive.

However, VakifBank regained control in the fourth set, closing it out 25–18 to secure the championship. The team, coached by Giovanni Guidetti, completed the tournament undefeated, reinforcing their dominance in European women’s volleyball.

Eczacibasi had reached the final after eliminating Italy’s Savino Del Bene in the semi-finals and were seeking their second Champions League title, having last won in 2015.

The final represented only the second all-Turkish showdown in the competition’s history between these two clubs, with VakifBank also having won their previous encounter in the 2022–2023 season.

With both finalists coming from Türkiye, the country’s clubs added another major continental trophy to their record, bringing its total to 27 international women’s volleyball titles and underscoring its continued strength in the sport.
