Europe's economic recovery could boost investment in Turkey

(MENAFN) A potential economic rebound in Europe is anticipated to significantly influence investment flows into Türkiye, as the country’s investment climate is closely linked to regional and global economic dynamics, Ahmet Burak Daglioglu, head of Türkiye’s Investment and Finance Office, said during an interview with Anadolu.

Daglioglu noted that Türkiye attracted roughly $11.6 billion in investments between January and October this year. “Converted to annualized data for the last 12 months, we can see an investment of around $14.6 billion,” he said, highlighting a 35% increase compared with the same period last year.

He added that despite stagnation in global investment flows, Türkiye experienced a roughly 30% rise in investments during the first half of the year, largely fueled by the country’s growing tech startup ecosystem. According to traditional sector classifications, wholesale and retail trade led investment activity, followed by manufacturing, information and communications technologies, fintech, and logistics, with many tech ventures included within these sectors.

Daglioglu emphasized that Türkiye’s manufacturing capacity expanded this year, strengthening its role in global supply chains. Investments particularly grew in manufacturing and logistics, with European countries comprising most of the top 10 investors, except for Kazakhstan, which ranked second this year.

Looking ahead, he said similar conditions are expected to continue into next year, though long-term forecasts remain challenging given anticipated monetary policy adjustments by central banks worldwide. “We expect the recovery in the European region to positively impact investments into Türkiye,” Daglioglu said.

He also highlighted 2026 as the 20th anniversary of Türkiye’s Investment and Finance Office and reaffirmed the office’s commitment to engaging global investors through both domestic and international promotional events. He pointed to the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference, COP31, as a key opportunity for Türkiye, bringing together global leaders, government officials, and international institutions, which he said will benefit the country’s business community.
