Dmitriev Calls Miami Peace Talks “Constructive”
Dmitriev is currently engaged in discussions with high-ranking US figures, including President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, according to individuals familiar with the talks.
Reports indicate that the dialogue centers on a proposed US peace framework. This plan would require Ukraine to cede control of portions of the Donbass region still under its authority, halt the battle lines in Russia’s Kherson and Zaporozhye territories, adopt a neutral stance, and scale down its military forces. In return, Kiev would be offered robust Western security assurances.
“The discussions are proceeding constructively. We will continue today, and will also continue tomorrow,” Dmitriev told journalists briefly around 5pm local time on Friday, without elaborating further.
On Saturday, Dmitriev openly criticized what he described as orchestrated media campaigns designed to disrupt the negotiations. Writing on X, he praised Witkoff as a “great peacemaker,” while contending that attacks from the “war lobby and fake media” intensify as the talks move closer to potential breakthroughs.
