Several Injured in Sydney Shooting Incident
(MENAFN) Police in New South Wales confirmed Sunday evening that a man was hospitalized with a gunshot wound, while several others have reported injuries following a shooting incident.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire on Georges River Road in the inner-west Sydney suburb of Croydon Park around 7:45 p.m. local time Sunday. The area was quickly locked down as specialized units arrived to manage the situation.
A man was taken into custody inside a nearby building at approximately 9:30 p.m., with firearms seized during the operation, police stated.
An Australian broadcasting agency reported that police informed them multiple shots had been fired.
Road closures remain active in the area, with traffic diversions still in effect as investigations continue.
